Caesars Palace Colosseum serves as the primary entertainment venue for the luxury hotel / casino Caesars Palace.  While the hotel and casino were originally opened in 1966, the 4,100 capacity arena wasn't opened until 2003 to replace its predecessor, the Circus Maximus Showroom.  Park Palace Management initiated the construction as part of larger hotel and casino renovations and built the Colosseum with specific thought to the (then) new business venture with Celine Dion, who helped kick off the opening with a CBS special that initiated her residency show there.  Beyond being the feature performer for the venue, Celine Dion's influence extended to the layout – resulting in an intimate setting with no seat further than 120 feet from the stage and 200 acoustical panels to control the amplified sound.  Other technical features of the venue include ten motorized stage lifts, accounting for 75% of the stage, a humidity controlled atmosphere for the performers, motorized rigging bars and platforms, and state of the art sound and lighting boards.  This venue also plays host to a wide variety of other acts which include Backstreet Boys, Bette Midler, Celine Dion, Chelsea Handler, Cher, Diana Ross, Elton John, Janet Jackson, Maroon 5, Ricky Martin, Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks to name a few.
